Flood Risk Consultant – Drainage Specialist

MillTech is working with an engineering consultancy dedicated to delivering sustainable solutions for flood risk management and drainage design.

The company has seen a large increase in projects over the past two years and are seeking a knowledgeable and proactive Flood Risk Consultant with strong drainage experience to join our dynamic team.

You will be responsible for assessing flood risk, designing drainage schemes, and providing expert advice to clients across various sectors including residential, commercial, and infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities:
 

• Conduct flood risk assessments in accordance with relevant legislation and industry standards 
• Develop drainage strategies and designs for development projects 
• Prepare technical reports, Flood Risk Assessments (FRAs), and drainage strategies 
• Liaise with clients, regulators, and other stakeholders 
• Use hydrological and hydraulic modelling tools (e.g., MicroDrainage, InfoDrainage, Flood Modeller) 
• Keep up-to-date with relevant regulations and best practices in flood risk and drainage 

Skills & experience needed for the role:

• Proven experience in flood risk assessment and drainage design 
• Strong understanding of relevant legislation (e.g., NPPF, Local Planning Policies) 
• Proficiency with industry-standard software (e.g., MicroDrainage, InfoDrainage, Flood Modeller) 
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal 
• Knowledge of sustainable drainage systems (SuDS) 
• Degree in Civil Engineering, Hydrology, Environmental Science, or related field 
• Professional accreditation (e.g., ICE, CIWEM) is advantageous
