Principal Technician (AutoCAD)

We are seeking a motivated Technician with hands-on experience in AutoCAD and a solid understanding of civil engineering concepts. Your responsibilities as the Principal Technician include:

• Produce accurate 2D and 3D drawings using AutoCAD for civil projects
• Prepare detailed construction drawings, details, and bill of materials
• Assist engineers with the design of drainage systems, infrastructure layouts, and S278/S38 schemes
• Collaborate with design teams to develop concepts into workable, constructible drawings
• Review and revise drawings based on stakeholder feedback and field changes
• Maintain drawing records, version control, and project folders
• Support QA/QC processes, perform checks for clarity, accuracy, and consistency
• Assist with quantity take-offs, material schedules, and site surveys as needed
• Contribute to continuous improvement of drafting standards and workflows

To succeed in this role we are looking for Principal Technicians with the following:

• Proven experience as a CAD Technician with a focus on civil engineering projects
• Experience working with local authorities, developers and architects on civil engineering aspects of a range of schemes
• Strong proficiency in AutoCAD - experience with Site3D is a plus
• Solid understanding of civil/structural engineering fundamentals and construction practices
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and bill of quantities
• Attention to detail, accuracy, and a methodical approach to drafting
• Good communication and teamwork skills; ability to work with engineers, designers, and field teams
